Objective

TO PROMOTE THE SPIRIT AND ACHIEVEMENTS OF No.578 SQUADRON ROYAL AIR FORCE
TO HONOUR AND REMEMBER THE 219 AIRMEN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE CAUSE OF FREEDOM
TO MAINTAIN CONTACT BETWEEN VETERANS, THEIR DESCENDENTS
AND ALL OTHERS WHO HAVE AN INTEREST IN THE SQUADRON

The Association presents this website to inform readers of an organisation which has remained in existence since the standing down of 578 Squadron in 1945 and is pleased to invite world wide participation from anybody who has a connection or interest.
Over the years a considerable amount of research and recording has been undertaken with the continuing objective of securing for the future an accurate and detailed account of events pertaining to an active, front line heavy bomber squadron operating in World War II. Such information is available to those who can establish a genuine reason for requiring it. We also welcome any relevant contribution and enquiry, which should be addressed to: Paul Waites webmaster@578squadron.org.uk

To become a member of the association please complete this online form and pay the annual membership to the details given in the form. If you would prefer to download and print the membership form, click here. Membership fees are due in January. For other membership enquiries, please email treasurer578@hotmail.com.

An annual reunion is held every year, based around the Squadron’s home of Burn, Selby and York.
